USB Drive Monitor Setup Information
You need to setup your USB Drive Monitor to start using it. The setup process is very simple.
- Configuring Your Personal USB Drive with the USB Drive Monitor:
- Start your USB Drive Monitor
- Insert your personal USB Drive
- The USB Drive Monitor will automatically configure it self with your USB Drive for the first time. It will display a message confirming that your USB Drive has been configured successfully.
- Configuring a New Personal USB Drive:
- Start your USB Drive Monitor
- Uncheck all options in all tabs, except for “no sound alert” found in “Configuration” tab.
- Insert your new Personal USB Drive
- Press “Configure New USB Drive” Button found in “Configuration” tab.
USB Drive Monitor Quick Modes Selection
USB Drive Monitor Has 4 Pre-Configured Modes for ease of use while keeping the customization of options possible for the user. You can select each mode by going to the quick mode selection tab and clicking on the mode you want. A screen on the right will show you all the changed that have been made to activate the mode, it will also show the user’s custom changes. A brief description of the Mode is shown at the bottom display area.
Those modes are :
- Silent Logger Mode: This mode allows you to secretly log information about the USB Mass Storage Devices inserted to your PC. You can chose this mode and then click on “hide” button to hide the program from users. A log of all Foreign USB Mass Storage Devices will be updated every 5 seconds to save the following information: Time, USB hardware Unique ID, USB Size, USB Name, USB Letter, Root directory and up to 3 folder levels file contents. This log information applies to all modes.
- Alert and Secure Mode: When a Foreign USB Drive is inserted, this mode will generate sound alerts, text messages and secure your computer with a screensaver. insert your Personal USB Drive or your password to unlock your PC.
- Attack and Secure Mode: This mode will delete files on the inserted Foreign USB Mass Storage Device, Disable Task Manger, Disable Mass Storage Devices, Activates a screensaver with a password protection, generates a sound alert, and only your Personal USB Drive or your Password will unlock your PC.
- Access Key Mode: This Mode allows you to use your Personal USB Drive as an access key to your PC. When removed it secures your PC by activating a screensaver and disabling task manager. to unlock your PC insert your Personal USB Drive to your PC.
Product Activation: The USB Drive Monitor will run for 20 working hours until you buy and activate the product. After buying the USB Drive Monitor, to get your Activation Code and activate your product please send your product ID found in the “Activation” Tab to Orders@Best-IT-Pros.com.
System Requirements: Windows XP (Full functionality Tested), Windows Vista (Not Tested), .Net Framework 2.0 or higher, installs automatically when on program setup.
USB Drive Monitor Tabs Explained
the program has seven tabs that have different options and displays. Each tab serves a specific purpose. We will list each tab and explain what each option and display provide.
Monitor Display Tab
This tab has a wide display that shows the data currently being logged into the log file. It displays information about the Foreign USB Drive inserted into the PC. It Also lists folder and file names contained in the Foreign USB Drive up to 3 folder levels deep.

As you can see from the picture above, there’s a small box labeled “Enter File Name” with a button labeled “Copy Log to File”. If you would like to see all the logged information from the begening of the USB Drive Monitor Installation to now all you have to do is type in a file name in the box and press the “Copy Log to File” button. You’ll have a browser open with the file name you entered. Open up the file and you’ll see all the data that have been logged to date. The file is organized from old to new, so if you want the current information logged from Foreign USB Drives you can simply go to the end of the file or search the file for the File Name or Time you want to check out.
The “Hide Program” Button is self explanitory, it simply hides the program, to show the program you can press Ctr + Shift + K and the program will show up again.
Options Tab
This tab is the heart of the program, it has most of the options and functionality of the program. We will start with each option and explain its role and functionality.
Option 1: “Add Program to PC Startup” this option will let the program run when you start your computer.
Option 2: “Hide Program on Startup” this option will hide the program whenever it first loads up and you wont see it. So if you check this options along with Option 1, your program will start up in hidden mode. To see the program press Ctr + Shift + K .
Option 3: “Delete Files on Foreign USB Drive (3 Folder Levels Deep)” this option will delete all files up to 3 folder levels deep on a Foreign USB Drive accessing your PC.
Warning: File deleted cannot be retrieved, Please don’t check unless you’re sure !!!
Option 4: “Only Stop Text and Sound Alerts when my Personal USB Drive is inserted” this option will let sound and text alerts to continue even if the intruder unpluged their Foreign USB Drive. Alerts will continue until you plug in your Personal USB Drive.
Option 5: “Show USB Drive Monitor when my Personal USB Drive is inserted” this option will show the program from hidden status when your Personal USB Drive is inserted to your PC.
Option 6: “Display this text message when a Foreign USB Drive is inserted” this option will display a custom text message as an alert when a Foreign USB Drive is inserted. You can change this message to whatever you want, be polite
Option 7: “No Sound Alert” this option will disable sound alerts activated when a Foreign USB Drive is inserted.
Option 8: “Disable Task Manager when a Foreign USB Drive is inserted or a screensaver is activated” this option disables task manager to block the user from closing the program or tampering with your computer. This option is automatically checked when a screensaver is active.
Option 9: “Disable USB Mass Storage Devices when a screensaver is active” this option disables all USB Mass Storage Devices on your PC including your Personal USB Drive when first inserted. To enable them again insert your Personal USB Dirve, unplug it then inset it again and all USB Mass Storage devices will be active again. Another option is to manually activate USB Mass Storage Devices from the “Configuration” tab.
Screensaver Options Tab
This tab has the controls for the screensaver. it also contains the “program password protection” option. We’ll discuss each option separately. The screensaver will lock your PC from users while keeping the option to turn off or restart your PC.
Option 1: “Use the password to access the program” this option uses the screensaver password to lock the program, so if you want to start the program with this option checked you’ll be prompted for a password, when given correctly the program will start. If the program is hidden and you press Ctr + Shift + K you’ll also be prompted to enter the password to access the program, otherwise it will stay hidden.
Option 2: “Enable Screensaver when a Foreign USB Drive is inserted” this option will automatically enable “Option 8″ from the “Options” tab to lock computer access and “Option 4″ from the “Screensaver Options” tab to allow passwrod protection. it will activate a screensaver automatically when a Foreign USB Drive is inserted and keep it locked until you enter a password or insert your Personal USB Drive.
Option 3: “Use My Personal USB Drive as my ONLY screensaver key” this option automatically disables “Option 1″ and “Option 4″ in the “screensaver Options” tab. Your Personal USB Drive will be the only access key to your PC.
Option 4: “Protect my screensaver with a password” this options allows the user to enter a password and then press the “Save Password” button. The “default password” for the program is “1234″.
Configuration Tab
This tab has manual configurations available to the user to have full control of the facilities of the program. It contains the most important button of the program :
“Configure a New Personal USB Drive”: which is used to configure your Personal USB Drive if you needed to change it. Please note that the program automatically configures the first USB Drive that is inserted to your PC after the installation of the program.
Sound Alert Selection: You can change the sound alert from this list, all you have to do is select the sound you want. Each time you select a sound it will play a preview sound to let you know what sound is generated when a Foreign USB Drive is inserted.
Enable Disable USB Mass Storage Devices: those buttons are used to enable and disable USB Mass Storage Devices. Please note that all your other pereferals will still work, including your mouse, keyboard….etc.
Enable Disable Task Manager: those buttons will allow the user to manually enable and disable task manager.
Quick Mode Selection Tab
This tab has two information displays the bottom display shows a brief description of the mode being selected and the top right display shows the changes of the options the mode is going to make before user approval. Please note that this display also shows the user custom changes to the options and saves them after program startup. You can always come back to this screen to know what configuration you’re currently on.
The Buttons on the left are the different pre-configured modes that the program has. You can always use those modes for quick program configuration. When you click on the “Clear All” button it will un-check all options including the “No Sound Option” .
Please note that when you select a specific mode you’re prompted to accept the option changes, after accepting the changes you can manually add or remove options to customize the program to your needs.

Activation Tab
This tab has the product activation information. when its in demo version it will have a count down of 20 working hours. Below that information there will be a Product ID, to activate your product you’ll need to send this Product ID to Orders@Best-IT-Pros.com or fill out the form at the beginning of this page to get your Activation code.
Uninstalling : Please Clear all selections before uninstalling from the control panel.
